CRAU History and Impact: None.
Personality: There are two main sides to Remy; the more commonly seen easy-going jokester who never seems to break a sweat, and the more serious and loyal man who only those closest to him get to really see.

The first is the side Remy prefers to put out towards the world for others to see. This side of him is confident no matter the situation he’s in, always ready with a joke or innuendo for any situation, and comes across as if he has everything under control, even when he doesn’t. While it has mellowed over the years with increased responsibilities and becoming more comfortable in his own skin and with those around him, he still works under the reputation of just enjoying life, and all its sins, to the maximum; from flirting, drinking, and sex, to a thrill of a tough steal.

This Remy comes off as incredible adaptable; able to adjust on the fly when a situation may suddenly change or take a turn for the worse, reading the best way to either complete a required task or come out with the best case option. And during such times like these, his coping mechanism of dealing with the majority of situations, good or bad, is to try and make a joke about it and to lessen the pressure of the events. Many times this will also include a level of flirting to it, and quite often a pop culture reference from his world.

However this side of him can have a sharp temper when pushed too far and the chances of acting without thinking. The latter is typically prompted on by anger or believing he has to act quickly to do the right thing, choosing to ignore the consequences of his actions until they will happen. And while he is willing to help even those who do not want it, if someone pushes him too far there is a good chance they will end up with a charge card thrown at them. This typically is aimed at aggressive anti-mutant individuals and other bigots, bullies, anyone who is trying to hurt someone who is not able to protect themselves. This is especially so for those who are trying to cause harm to children and/or women.

Getting past those charades of not taking anything too seriously hides a more serious man, one closely devoted to his family and friends, who is willing to sacrifice himself and his happiness to keep them safe.

It’s this side of Remy that may seem to ‘ruin’ the air of ease he puts on, that his seemingly spur of the moment actions and gambling reputation is actually created due to his diligent hard work beforehand. He is an obsessive planner, dedicating large amounts of time and energy in pre-planning for a mission or job, trying to foresee all possibly outcomes and how to deal with them. It’s this foreknowledge that aids in that ‘spur of the moment’ reactions as he already knows all information he is able to get his hands on and has memorized them to ensure he knows all details. If this is not possible, then he can draw from the countless other past missions and jobs that may be similar, able to guess a best option from what has come before. This level of planned is even included in the upkeep of his uniform, and more importantly, his coat, it being well stocked with a number of items for those ‘just in case’ scenarios.

What allows Remy to work so well in a range of groups, including the Thieves and X-Men, is his willingness to help others, even those who may have an opposing view to him. That the importance of the group and their actions have a higher value than any quarrels that he may have with a member of it. He is also highly loyal to a side once he is part of it, willing to do whatever is needed to aid them, even if it puts him in an undesirable position or damage how others view him. As his codename suggests, he believes that small sacrifices are important to help a larger ideal, this can be from injuries from a mission, to ignoring barbs and insults thrown his and the X-Men’s way from those who hate mutants, or just any personal feelings against him. He’s a man who would rather he take the brunt of those attacks and risks, whatever form they may be in, rather than those he cares for, even willing to sacrifice his life to keep those he loves most safe. Yet he also knows his team and what they can do, knowing when to step back and let them fight a fight he is not capable of winning.

While he has improved on this over the years, Remy does has a habit of withdrawing emotionally from a situation that has caused him pain, able to easily get caught up in his own thoughts and spiral down a path of dark thoughts and self-doubt. This may include leaving the area physically to blow off steam and/or to not have to answer questions, preferring to avoid having to justify his actions, especially if they are moments he is not proud to have done. If unable to have time to himself, this can instead result in him snapping at others around him, trying to avoid the situation with sarcastic remarks rather than opening up about his feelings. However Remy has progressed over the years, maturing to understand that it’s better to just say his piece, even if it’s not liked, than letting it stew away and grow gaps between he and others.

While Remy does like to play up his ego from a joking side, he does actually have a very strong ego and a very high level of vanity that requires a large part of his attention to maintain, and which is tied closely to his self-esteem. For this reason Remy requires having people around him to keep his ego and vanity in check, as both can easily get out of control and he can believe his own hype if it is not smacked down on a regular schedule.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
Mutant powers: Molecular acceleration/Kinetic charging. This is the ability to alter the energy of an inorganic object and causing it to explode via touch, at which Remy has a high level on control over that allows him to manipulate his target in a number of ways, including creating a delayed charge and allow an object to ‘burn away’ rather than explode.
Warping: Instead of being able to charge through touch, Remy’s powers are now activated via line of sight to an object.
Abilities: Multilingual, including fluent in English and French. Master marksman in small throwing items. A highly skilled fighter in both hand to hand combat and with weapons, in particular Savate (French kickboxing), and bojutsu with his bo staff. Master thief with of knowledge and experience on numerous techniques and tools of the trade, including, but not limited to; pickpocketing, lock picking, sleight of hand, and safe cracking. High level of aerobatics and athletics. Well skilled in card tricks and games, including cheating at them, due many years of having them on hand.
Weaknesses: Due to the warping changes, Remy’s control and self confidence in this change to his powers will require time for him to get anywhere close to the level he is used to having his powers at. Which may include him being more wary in using them in normal situations that he would, both in fighting and everyday life.
